CLOU to Supply the First Battery Energy Storage Demonstration Station in Costa Rica

Recently, Shenzhen CLOU Electronics Co., Ltd. has teamed up with Sumec Complete Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. to build the 3.5MW/3.5MWh Lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project in Costa Rica (hereinafter referred to as “Costa Rica Project”), which will be delivered in Q1 of 2021.

The First Demonstration Project of BESS in Costa Rica

As the first demonstration project of BESS in Costa Rica, it aims to replace traditional electric power with renewable energy and establish a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.

Lithium-ion batteries are applied in this project as its quality has been honed for years, due to the higher technical requirements of the market and the increased awareness for safety, and has been taken as the preferred option for overseas new energy resources.

The most noteworthy feature of this project is that CLOU supplies a turnkey solution, covering battery system, PCS and energy management system (EMS), which is compatible with operating conditions below 1.0CP.Through millisecond-level regulation of battery system, advanced energy storage converting technology and intelligent EMS, it can realize the coordinated operation of application scenarios such as frequency regulation, voltage support, peak-shifting, emergency backup, black start and etc. The BESS supplied by CLOU has obtained UL1973 and UL9540A certification.

CLOU Turnkey Solution Paves Way for Green Energy

Active/passive balance technology based on SOC is adopted in this project to improve the consistency and prolong the lifecycle of battery system. Additionally, three-level battery manage system, battery management platform, multi-level electric protection and clean air fire extinguishing system are also equipped to fully guarantee the safety of the battery system, realize the management and prediction of the full life cycle and enhance the stability and reliability of battery system. Upon the successful operation of this project, Costa Rica is seen to vigorously promote the utilization of BESS and therefore CLOU is expected to set off a new wave of green energy in the region.
