Transelec S.A. and CLOU Electronics Sign Agreement for 105MW/420MWh Energy Storage System in Chile

CLOU Electronics, the world’s leading ESS system integrator, has recently announced the signing of an agreement with GEA TRANSMISORA SpA, a subsidiary of Transelec S.A., Chile’s leading high-voltage transmission system provider with over 80 years of experience in the energy industry.

Under this agreement, CLOU Electronics will supply a 105MW/420MWh liquid-cooling energy storage system (ESS) to a project site in Chile owned by GEA. This will be Transelec’s first battery storage project and is expected to be delivered in 2025. This contract represents a significant step in bolstering the country’s energy transition and marks a notable increase in installations for the newly launched system.

In October 2022, the Chilean parliament passed legislation to incentivize energy storage and electric mobility development. Additionally, the Chilean government has set an ambitious target of achieving 70% of total energy consumption from renewable sources by 2030 (pv magazine International) (World Economic Forum). This legislative action and the renewable energy target have led to a significant increase in renewable energy generation installations in recent years, thereby creating a pressing demand for energy storage solutions.

This project marks CLOU Electronics' role as a system integrator providing large-scale whole-station system integration solutions to an overseas client, representing a significant milestone in the company’s transformation from an equipment supplier to a system integrator in the international energy storage market. The 105MW/420MWh project will utilize CLOU Aqua series liquid-cooling energy storage product, with solutions encompassing project design, equipment supply, system integration, project delivery, O&M, and after-sales service. CLOU’s E³S value theory, emphasizing safety, service, performance, and rapid installation, will be maximized in this project.
